I love horse genetics as much as the next gal, but I've never been very good at it. I also love rolling random foals based on genetics, but this spells trouble for me as GM. With this in mind, I've created a super simplified (and probably really inaccurate) genetics system for Brinvoss. Basically, everything is on a tier system, and as you accumulate Silver via posting, you can afford fancier coats for future characters.
Each faction has its own set of rarities, so when the kingdoms merge, the possibilities will widen a lot (though some things are pretty darn rare no matter where you go).
Starter characters will be restricted to common (free) coats until everyone starts accumulating silver, obviously, but as your Lorebound are meant to be a bit more special than the average character, there is a special deal for them.
To start, check out the info document here.
For Lorebound only:
When creating your Lorebound, you can absolutely stick to only common coats and modifiers if you want. However, if you want something a bit fancier for a fancier character, you get 10 points to use as you please. They can be broken down like this:
Uncommon Coat: 3 points
Rare Coat: 5 points
Uncommon Modifier: 4 points
Rare Modifier: 6 points
This means that the only things really out of your grasp are a) ultra rare coats and modifiers, and b) both a rare coat and a rare modifier. Take a look at your faction's handbook for a list of what is on offer for your character!
Please note: Modifiers can be stacked. If you would like to add a common modifier to a rarer coat, you can do this for free. In the case of your Lorebound, you can purchase your base coat and/ or modifier from the rarer lists with your points, then add extra common modifiers if you want.
